4 Blocks Down...1 to Go!!!

This semester consisted of community health, I did my clinical at a elementary school and played school nurse; home health, I chose Hospice of the Valley for my rotation and LOVED it; and mental health, clinicals were at CHEEERS for outpatient and Banner Thunderbird for inpatient - very interesting, some people I will never forget! Thunderbird had 2 units - Sandia which was for mentally ill patients and Cascade for chemical dependency (my favorite).

I fell in love with my patients in hospice and definitely had a hard time saying goodbye - sweet people! Hospice nurses are amazing, they give families such support during trying times! Maybe down the road I will find my "home" at a hospice agency.

Here are some pictures from today after our final...

Me and Leanda. Just found out she is pregnant - she and Pete will have cute babies!

I didn't realize you were at CHEEERS. Most people don't know that place exists unless you are either SMI or a student nurse that has the priveledge to do a rotation there. I did ours there too and am a changed person indeed. Like you said, some very unforgettable people. I learned to not fear those people that were talking or singing to themselves and not be afraid to ask them about their mental illness.

Congrats on finishing your next to last block. Larett
